Lets face it: the iPhone isn’t the best phone anymore. When it came out three years ago it was new and had features that no other phone had. But now, it’s hard to find a reason to continue using the iPhone. In this post I’ll discuss my views, and I hope there can be an Apple fanboy commenting about how stupid this post is and some geeks commenting agreeing with me; I’d even like to have some people who comment agree with me.
So let’s go over this. Take a look at this article on Yahoo News. That’s where analyst Michael Morgan says the iPhone isn’t state of the art. And it’s not
Although some people still think it is. Just scroll down the page a little bit and an Apple fanboy says “what an idiot. it was/is the state of the art touch UI, the state of the art mobile “ecosystem,” and next the state of the art system on a chip/power management/battery life (like the iPad). gadget heads, please go away with your superficial spec fetish.” I guess that’s the reason why some people still think the iPhone is the best there is. This is the truth: The iPhone is not the best. It’s not state of the art. So why are people still using it? Read on.
There are two reasons why people are still using the iPhone. One of them is because people are used to it. I know it’s difficult to switch to a new phone when you’re used to your old one. (My mother is still using her 6-year old phone which lacks bluetooth, a camera, a web browser, and a PC connection because she’s familiar with it and doesn’t want to try something new until this old phone breaks). There are people who are used to some of the ways the iPhone works so they won’t try anything else. The other reason some people won’t switch to a new phone is because they think the iPhone makes them look cool (that should account for about 90% of Apple fanboys). I mean, how cool is it to pull out your iPhone and check your email while you’re waiting for a taxi?
But then again, why would you pay hundreds of dollars for the iPhone to use it as a decoration on your hand or a paperweight on your desk?
Now I know people will say “The Apple App Store has hundreds of thousands of apps and the other guys don’t.”
People always bring that up. Well, let me ask you: Do you use all those apps? No, you don’t. And I think you could find nearly any app you have on your iPhone right now in the Android store. Most of these apps in the Apple App Store and junk (flipping through the most recent app list right now I see an app to make the iPhone vibrate, an app that lets you see a map of the world, and an app to make sounds so you fall asleep). There are so many apps that are junk!
Still don’t agree with me? Read the review of the Droid Incredible by Marisa Taylor, a former iPhone user. Marisa tried the Droid and the only major downside she found was that she couldn’t load music from her iTunes to the Droid. Well I really don’t know what to say to that (isn’t that a first) but it would really remove some of the restrictions you have with the iPhone’s music coming from iTunes.
Lastly I’d like to ask all you readers to please comment on this because it really is a controversial topic. I’d like to see what you think.

Of course the iPhone is not the best phone anymore, the latest version has been out for almost a year. It would show the incompetence of the other smartphone companies if in that time they couldn’t make a phone with better specs in that time.
But I ask you does that make the iPhone a bad phone?, the iPhone has a unique selling point it is released yearly by one of the most respected companies today. When you buy an iPhone you know that a better version will be out next year. If you buy an android a better version will be released the next month. You cannot expect people to upgrade monthly but yearly is very reasonable today. You can also expect consistency with the iPhone, the next version will will be similar in terms of usability to the last making the upgrade an easy decision.
At the next iPhones release on that very day it’ll be the best phone on the Market, of course better phones will come out after that’s just how the tech world works. Telling the world that a phone I’d not the best (spec wise) after the phone is nearly a year old is silly. In the end it comes down to preference do you like using the android, do you like using the nexus. They all offer similar features but one appeal to customers more than the other.
I hated the iphone from the start. It was too bulky and slow. Yeah sure it has sweet apps and games but thats what the iTouch is for. I HATE, from deep within my heart iTunes- and always will—-and that sorta killed the iphone for me.
Then again I did end up getting bored of the itouch and selling it. I now have the android which is the best phone I’ve ever had, out of multiple blackberry’s, a G1 and an LG Vu
what an idiot. it was/is the state of the art touch UI, the state of the art mobile “ecosystem,” and next the state of the art system on a chip/power management/battery life (like the iPad). gadget heads, please go away with your superficial spec fetish.
But it's really not state of the art. There are other faster and better phones. Just because Steve Jobs says something is state of the art doesn't mean it is.
I don't like using Iphone, it has low resolution camera. I know this will only be slightly better in the next version, but come on, most new phones have at least a 5 megapixel camera, some have a lot more.
I rarely use the application even though I have full apps on my Iphone… I better use my blackberry
Uhmm, it just my opinion!
what are you talking about the iPhone 4 has a 5MP camera with flash, and takes pictures quite well…
also it is not bulky its one of the thinnest smartphones on the market to this day and its almost a year old…
not to mention iOS 4's features that 3GS users get to sweeten the deal….. iPhone is king and still will be no ifs ands or buts yes there is other phones that specs beat it but iPhone is a term everyone has come to love or hate its a household name… tell me what phone can generate as much buzz as any iPhone product has or what smartphone has sold so many within the first weekend or lifespan? exactly! !! love it or hate it… its here to stay for quite sometime
